Pool/Beach/Lake Season is Here….Keep Your Children Safe! | Charlotte Aquatics

Probably one of the best articles I have read so far this year!  A scary thought but defiantly one to be aware of and keep at the front of our minds this summer at the beaches and pools!  Stay safe and remember…this struck me the most….’children playing in the water make noise. When they get quiet, you get to them and find out why.’  Thank you Charlotte Aquatics for the great link!

No need to road trip for a fab girls weekend! The Ballantyne Resort has it all!

The Ballantyne Resort

I have to tell you about the amazing girls weekend I just spent at the Ballantyne Resort last weekend!  We wanted to relax, be spoiled and recharge our batteries!  Oh, also we didn’t want to drive far to do it!  So we decided to try the Ballantyne Resort to fill our buckets!  They did not disappoint!

Upon check in, Arthur at the front desk greeted us with his warm smile and a room upgrade, which I have to say was the perfect start to our weekend!  It was totally unexpected and very, very much appreciated.  What a spoiler to be placed on the top floor and have 2 balconies to sit on relax, and admire the beautiful view.  Which by the way, in case you weren’t aware, you can see uptown perfectly from these balconies!  We didn’t notice it at first, but very cool when we did!

The room was beautiful and fully equipped with a sitting area, a bedroom, robes, slippers, Starbucks coffee, yummy bath products and the best part, 2 restrooms which is quite a nice luxury for a girls weekend!  🙂

After enjoying some time in the room we enjoyed a nice lunch in the lobby Veranda restaurant.  We shared the Grilled Ribeye and the Local Cheddar Panini!  Both were very good, but the Panini was our favorite!  The Service was fantastic and so friendly.  Noel made us feel welcome and like we could really spend some time!

But…we had pedicure appointments, so moving on to the Forbes Four-Star recognized Spa at Ballantyne we went!  We had booked the Bahama Mama Pedicure (the monthly special), the Spa features different specials each month, so fun, and something to look forward to!  This Bahama Mama pedicure was quite possibly the best and most gentle pedi I have ever had.  Susan was a pleasure, she provided excellent service and pleasant conversation, all while I sat in the chair gazing out of the picture glass window watching the golfers go by.  They say the pineapple coconut shea butter sugar scrub followed by a mango-melon shea butter massage will nourish skin, and it really did!  The aroma was also divine!  During the pedicure the spa provided a Bahama Mama cocktail to enjoy along with our treatment.  We thoroughly enjoyed these and finished them while our piggies dried out on the balcony at the spa.  The entire experience a treat through the end!

Off to the Pool to have a snack and maybe another Bahama Mama.  That Friday evening the Ballantyne Resort was hosting a Tommy Bahama fund-raiser for Juvenile Diabetes in the pool area.  It was a fabulous evening for a fantastic cause.  We loved watching the fashions go by and the raffle was good fun!  The pool bar was alive with locals and hotel guest all eager to support the cause and partake at the pool party.

The rest of the weekend, Saturday and Sunday morning were spent strolling the poolside, the Gallery Restaurant, and enjoying leisurely mornings in the room with scrumptious room service.  Below is a slide show of snippets from the whole weekend.  This will definitely be a repeat event for us.  Next time though the whole family will come, I know our children would love to play in the pool and enjoy the poolside snacks and service!

Pinspiration ~ Is that even a word?!

Who else is hooked on ‘pinning’?  Again, is that even a word?  It seems no matter what the topic you can go to pinterest and find the answer.  It’s genius, it’s fun, it’s inspiring and it’s enjoyable time suckage!  And YES I do believe this is a very common word now!

Gone are the days of reading a recipe in the paper and filing it away in your recipe box.  Today we can find one recipe done several ways, shown in visually appealing pictures and we can choose to ‘PIN’ one or all of them to our virtual cork board, which we have named ‘Food’ or some other creative name broken down by meal or ingredient.  Like a ‘Chicken’ pin board, this one could consume days upon days of  pinning!

It’s even hard to write the sequence of events that occur from the setting up your Pinterest account to the confusing first few attempts, to the madness that follows!  You “pinners’ know what I mean!

When I started my ‘Pinning’  it was intended to be a resource for Charlotte and the surrounding area.  However….67 boards and 1447 pins later…I too have boards for occasions, recipes and even door knobs!  I think once you create a ‘Hooks and Handles’ board, it’s officially okay to refer to yourself as a pin-o-holic!  Although I am still a light weight compared to some fellow pinners!

If you have a board I should follow please let me know here, especially if it has goodies about the Queen City!  Or even just some beautiful, smart, must see pins!

Here is a glimpse at some of my boards, I do feel it’s a constant work in progress, but it’s good fun, and I will NEVER be at a loss for class projects again!  Thank you Pinterest!!!

Two final thoughts, with summer coming and the kids being home, I know Pinterest will have games, crafts and many ideas to keep the family entertained.  Finally, and lastly, the jokes.  Search funny, or jokes into the search box and enjoy the chuckles.  It’s fun to see all of those random cards and meme’s in one spot!
